2016 Field School/Field School/Workshop on Conservation Biology and Global Health Faculty of Animal Husbandry Sam Ratulangi University, University of Washington, and Bogor Agricultural University

Referring to the priority program of Sam Ratulangi University, namely "Developing the Potential of Sustainable Natural and Human Resources in the Pacific Region with the leading fields of climate change and the diversity of biological natural resources and the environment, the Faculty of Animal Husbandry in collaboration with the University of Washington and the Bogor Agricultural Institute has implemented Field School/Field School/Workshop on Conservation Biology and Global Health at Batu Putih Nature Park and Tangkoko Nature Reserve with the aim of improving the abilities and skills of students, observers, Natural Resources Conservation Center staff in the field of conservation biology and global health, as well as raising awareness , caring, the ability of the younger generation to preserve the Tangkoko nature reserve. The field implementer of this activity is Prof. Randall Kyes Ph D (University of Washington) and Dr. Meis Jacinta Nangoy, drh., MSi (Sam Ratulangi University) and the teaching team (Dr.Ir.Tiltje Ransalleh.,MSi, Dra Hetty Wungow.,MSi and Ir. Handry Lengkong MSi) supported by the Wildlife, Endemic and Animal Laboratory staff Rare Faculty of Animal Science, University of Sam Ratulangi.

This activity was attended by 20 (twenty) participants consisting of 8 (eight) students from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, 6 (six) students from the Faculty of Forestry, Dumoga University, Kotamobagu, 2 (two) staff of the Natural Resources Conservation Center of North Sulawesi Province, and 4 (four) observers of the natural preservation of Batu Putih. The activity took place from 9 to 18 May 2016 at the Batu Putih Natural Tourism Park, Tangkoko Bitung. The delivery of training materials is carried out in the form of lectures and practical use of tools such as GPS, Range Finder, Camera Trap, Blow Pipe, Light Trap, Radio Telem aerial Drone-UAV as well as line transect sampling, fecal parasite sampling. Topics covered include The Human-Enviroment Interface, Conservation Biology, Threats to biology diversity, Global Health- Riks to Human Health (Health concerns to local people) , animal behavior, Biodiversity, The Primates, The Bats, The butterflies, and The Dragonflies, Management and Conservation Strategies, Human-Wildlife Interaction and Conflict Human-Primate Conflict ,Risks to Primates (Conservation Medicine), Emerging Infectious Disease & Human Health Risks.

In this activity, community outreach programs were also conducted for teachers and students of Batu Putih Elementary School.
